Priority Pedal Power - Andrew Shoolbread
During the pandemic whilst there has undoubtedly been a reliance on technology and a sense of urgency around information updates, I have also (re)discovered a slower pace of life. By being encouraged to get outdoors and go for walks and cycle rides I have reconnected in a variety of ways with family and friends, my local community and even myself - it’s provided an opportunity for me to take stock of who I am and what I have around me.
Of course, everyone’s experience has been different and many have faced unimaginable difficulties, however I hope we collectively learn from the positives, as well as the negatives, to make lasting change and not lose any gains.
I saw the bike next to the priority post box and liked the juxtaposition of the fast with the slow. It also acted as a reminder that if I want lasting change then I need to prioritise my own slower more considered pace: I realise that as things re-open the pace of life will undoubtedly get faster and it will be difficult not to get swept along.
