Mikey and the Bee - Suzanne R Livingstone
We are very fond of our garden. It’s a place we go to play, relax, create, and nurture our love of nature. Bees are very much a favourite garden visitor. In our garden, a bee rarely goes unnoticed. Each fuzzy guest is greeted with excitement and enthusiasm and is closely watched as it goes about its business.
To us, bees are both beautiful and fascinating creatures. But they are also essential for a healthy environment and food security. Bees pollinate our gardens, green spaces, natural habitats, and almost all the fruits and vegetables we eat. We need bees. Bees are threatened and declining across the UK (and globally) from habitat loss, climate change, toxic pesticides and disease. Without bees, the world will be a very different place. Bees need our help.
In our garden, we grow bee-friendly flowers, rich in nectar. This is one small, but effective thing we can do to support bees and other biodiversity. You can do it too. We want to ensure bees are here to stay, for their intrinsic beauty, the health of our planet and our children’s future.
